Stardust Melodies Texture'ghan

Project info
Begin the Beguine by Polly Plum
Crochet
Afghan block
Hooks & yarn
5.5 mm (I)
Notes

I started off treating this as a stash-buster, so my color choices were somewhat determined by what I have in-stash (though I did end up buying a few extra skeins on clearance, here and there). I opted for pastels-- the better to show off the textures of the raised stitches.

Yarns and Colors Used for Blocks:

Caron One Pound:
Lilac
Pale Green
Soft Sage
Lace

I Love This Yarn!:
Pale Denim
Light Gray
Iced Violet
Sea Blue
Soft Pink

Loops & Threads Impeccable:
Soft Rose
Soft Fern

Crafter’s Secret:
Blue Moon

Joining and Border:
Caron One Pound in “Taupe”.

As recommended in the pattern, I switched up a hook size for crocheting the border. (Used a size J.)

I stopped my border at three of the bobble rounds (plus the following non-bobble round and one round of sc), then added on a simple scallop (one of the “elements” in Edie Eckman’s Every Which Way Crochet Borders book)-- just because I like a scalloped edge better than a completely straight edge on an afghan.
