The pattern (designed by Chantal Chevallier) is marked “advanced”, so I’m curious to see how this goes! At first glance, it doesn’t look that difficult, but then you see that there are a lot of trebles in there… and 5-treble clusters… and 5-double treble clusters… and a fair amount of crocheting into chain stitches. That should keep things interesting. ;o)

I’m using a very large ball of white thread that I’ve already made at least one or two doilies from. I think it’s Aunt Lydia’s brand… Since I’m using size 10 (instead of the recommended size 12), it’ll probably turn out somewhat larger than the 13.75 inches mentioned in the pattern.

It’s not too difficult, so far, but still requires a certain degree of focus. Wouldn’t be the best choice for a beginner. Maybe I shouldn’t speak too soon, though. It might be a lot harder in the later rounds. ;o)

The next to last round was probably the most challenging. Certainly it took the longest to crochet-- partly because I kept setting it aside.

I need to block it. I think it’ll look nice enough, but I doubt I’ll crochet it again any time soon. It wasn’t that difficult, but it also wasn’t that much fun to crochet, and unless the final results are far more stunning than I expect, I’m not interested in making it twice.

Nope, final results were not far more stunning than expected. Less stunning, in fact. (g) I just finished blocking it, and I found it far from pleasant-- with the result that I probably could’ve done a better job. Alright, I’ll admit that I rarely love blocking-- but this was even less fun than usual.

Note to self: Don’t make this one again. It’s just not that much fun, and there are so many other doily patterns from which to choose.
