This yellow thread is demanding to be crocheted into a doily. It’s very, very yellow-- and lemon yellow isn’t usually one of my favorite colors-- but I think it will be interesting to work with, for a while.

June 18th--
I’ve been crocheting this a little now and then, happily convinced that all was going well, until I got to the first round with a “count” at the end of it. That would be the 23rd round, in the copy I have-- well into the pattern (stupid old pattern!).

Guess what? I started the darn thing with the wrong number of something, somehow. Instead of eight pineapples in the first group, I have seven. (Argh!)

So. I’m not about to rip it back and restart, at this point. I’ll just keep going and hope it will block out evenly. I think it will. It seems flat enough, right now, and I’ve made a similar mistake on a doily, before-- only then I think I had 10 pineapples and was supposed to have 12. So if that worked out, I think this will, too.

I’m annoyed, though. I wish the pattern had given some sort of stitch count (much) earlier in the pattern. I know the mistake’s my own fault, but I’m blaming the pattern, anyway. ;oP
