I want to try out some cable patterns without making a whole big project from all of them, so I’m planning to make a collection of swatches to frame for my craft room (and maybe elsewhere in the house, depending on how they turn out).
This first one is Pattern #95 (O Knot Ogee) from Norah Gaughan’s Knitted Cable Sourcebook.
I’m knitting one 36-stitch panel, with a garter stitch border and “padding” of three plain stitches on both vertical sides. (My terminology is probably all wrong. Maybe at least I’ll remember what I’m talking about…)
I cast on 48 stitches on a needle one size larger than I plan to use for the body of the swatch.
The knots are a bit tight and some of the rows are solid twists, one after another-- but it’s all do-able.
