Notes

I’ve had my eye on this one for years; time to finally give it a try!

I’m using a jumbo ball of thread, so at least I think I’m unlikely to run out in mid-project. ;o)

I’m hoping that the charts will be clear enough on their own, because the written bits of instruction are in Japanese (which I can’t read).

The first row (working into the chain) is tedious, but fortunately it’s not long.

One thing I’m having to get used to is working into the “backs” of thread stitches. Normally, when I’m crocheting thread, the front of the work is facing me all the time, but working back and forth in rows means I’m always working into the back side of the previous row. It’s not as easy to see where the hook should go, sometimes, so it’s taking a little adjustment.

This turned into a “product” rather than a “process” project for me. I never stopped liking the looks of the runner, but I really just wanted to be done with it! I wouldn’t want to make this again-- just because it felt like it took forever. The individual components are not particularly difficult, but it’s an exercise in endurance.

I’m not the most careful blocker, but I think it’s more or less straight, and once it’s being used, any slight wobbles should be less obvious.
