Notes

Whew! This is a fairly complicated block. The results are gorgeous, but this is one where you need to pay attention to the pattern.

If I were to make this again, I might try to find a way to tack down the “lower” picots (the two closest to the stem on either side-- four total) on round 3 and/or 4. I was able to tack down the rest of the leaf picots pretty well on round 5, but those lower picots are loose, and I’m concerned they may want to curl when the blanket’s washed. If it becomes annoying, I’ll probably tack it down, somehow, afterwards, but that will be messier than if I’d just done it as I crocheted the square. More ends to hide, too.

I added the optional “picot dressup” round after finishing the rest of it. (It’s easy to add at any point after round 8, btw.) It’s a lot of picots, it’s true, but it does dress up the block, and these two-chain picots are relatively quick to do.

Shown with Canada Goose Border.
