For my Whispers of Spring Sampler.
Using the Canada Goose block border.

I’ve had so much trouble with the beginning of this block! I’m not sure why I’m so distracted, but I’ve had to restart three times to get it right.

On my third try, I decided to swap out the Rnd 4 puff stitches in favor of popcorn stitches. I just couldn’t face another round of puff stitches. (Love the look; don’t love crocheting them, unfortunately.) As a consequence, in Rnd 5 I put a sc in the top of each popcorn in place of the fpsc around each puff stitch.

I used the alternative instructions for Rnd 16 to keep the size down slightly, and for the subsequent rounds, I did nothing but sc in each stitch and (sc, ch 2, sc) for the corners.

This is an interesting block with tons of texture and room for colorplay. I don’t think using popcorn sts instead of puff sts looks worse, really-- just a little bit different. The double zig-zag is very eye-catching!
