This is only my 2nd Fair Isle project so I probably am using more yarn than others. I am carrying the yarn in my right hand with the pattern color over my index finger and the background color over the next finger.

I used much more of the light neutral yarn than the kit provided and to compensate I substituted leftover yarn from a hat I knit in Virtual Yarns. And it worked beautifully. Because I wanted the substitute yarns to blend naturally I began using those yarns mid-project and held back some of the lighter neutral to use at the end. That worked out well and I think created a more seamless substitution of yarn without looking like at the end I had to substitute, if that makes any sense. I can’t say exactly how much of the light neutral I substituted but did use substituted yarns from roughly mid pattern all the way to BO so I did use a significant amount.

Leftover yarn:
3g light neutral
10g dark neutral
3g in all contrasting colors

Pre-block measurements (exclusive of fringe):
12.5 inches x 33 inches
Post-block measurements (exclusive of fringe):
11 inches x 54 inches
