I taught myself to knit in May. I cut my teeth on a Malt blankets and somehow decided that this would be a great follow-up pattern. I was right, even if I had to spend a great deal of time with Mr. Youtube to learn everything that wasn’t a knit or a purl.

I got the yarn in a large destash from an acquaintance. No clue what it is other than it smells sheepy and has enough crunch for me to suspect some silk content.

I got ambitious with my mods, but most of those worked out well. I need a bit more work with short-rows to really get it. The lace was easy enough. Magic loop was decent, though my cord was unwieldy. I need some serious work on raglan sleeves. Not sure where or how to pick up stitches. I had large gaps in the underarm that needed some stitching. They aren’t beautiful, but if you don’t know to look, you won’t notice it.

Near disaster was averted after my daughter pulled my needles out of the sleeve 2 rows from the final bind-off. Managed to get them all back on without losing any.

Mods:

•I did a provisional cast-on, as my regular cast-on is a bit tight.
•Used thewittyknitter’s notes for short rows at the bottom.
•Added a little lace heart using the chart from these socks.
•Picked up stitches all the way around and did the border in seed stitch, in the round.
•Shortened the sleeves, seed stitch cuff.
