The dunes of Sossusvlei are the highest of the world: 350 m of red sand.
Their ochre color would be due to the oxidation of sand-colored, probably native of Kalahari and transported to the Atlantic Ocean by the river Orange in the South of Namibia, then gone back up by the current of Benguela on the Namibian coast.
