4mm swatch 24sts in centre. Unwashed 23sts X 28rows, 4.25” wide.

3.75mm swatch 24sts in centre. Unwashed 24sts X 30rows, 4” wide.

1 ball and a bit of 2nd ball for the yoke.
Instead of casting on for fronts before diving for arm holes, I worked increase at each side every row, for 4rows, before diving sleeves, then a further 2 rows after diving sleeves.
Worked sleeves, then will return to body with remaining yarn as I may wish to cast on less stitches for the fronts as others have done.

Starting 1st sleeve with ball 3, leaving ball 2 on the body to carry on the body after finishing the sleeves as I’ll have a better idea of how much yarn I have left for the body and bands.

Sleeve 94, + pickup 16 from underarm, + 2 extra on each side to close holes, decrease away those extra 4 stitches over first 2rounds, leaving 110sts.
After 12rounds start decreases.
2decreases every 6rounds.

After first handwash; blocked size 28” wide, 35” long.

Thumb hole method.
The thumb holes aren’t part of the pattern, but here is how I do it.

Work in rib to the point where you want the thumb hole to be (which is actually a slit in this instance).
Turn the next 2 knit stitches into 4 knit stitches by increasing in each one however you prefer. Work a complete round back to this k4 point.
K1 onto right needle, out next st on cable needle at back of work, knit next stitch onto right needle. Place marker (this will prevent you over shooting the slit).
Place the stitch from the cable needle back on the left needle.
(The effect of this to have 2 new stitches behind those original knit stitches, this helps prevent the start of the thumb hole stretching out.)

Turn work, maintain the rib (you’ll have at the bigining and end).
Work back and forth in rows, turning at the marker.
When the slit is long enough to comfortably fit your thumb, join back in the round at the end of a right row.

To join back into the round, work to 2 stitches from the end of the right side row, don’t turn the work.
Slip 1 st to the right needle, slip 1 st onto cable needle (hold at the front), drop the marker. Slip 1 stitch from right needle to left needle, k2tog, put stitch from cable needle onto left needle, k2tog.
This joins those extra 2 stitches back in, neatly closing the gap.
Continue in the round.
