This is my favorite (thus far) yarn for dude hats. It’s soft, yet durable and warm. I wanted to make a hat for a guy who spends most of his time outdoors. It needed to be versatile so he could pull the brim down to cover his ears, flip up the brim for a more relaxed look, etc. Hence making the hat a little bit longer than the original pattern dictates.

The math on this pattern is also weird, which led me to cast on an inaccurate number of stitches for a slightly roomier hat, thus giving the brim one 4x4 section of ribbing while the rest is 2x2. Whatever. It was made with love and fits him perfectly.

(The pom pom was removed immediately. As I expected.)
