Notes

Using the Adorable charts, but making as a cozy for my Kindle Fire instead of mittens.

1/2/12: Re-charted to create a two-image chart for double-knitting so that I could create a pouch/sleeve and lining concurrently. I have the female and male robots on either side of the sleeve, and the circuits on the inside. (No, I did not need to have a design on the lining, but I just felt like it.)

First time using Caron SS yarn. Kind of splitty and it feels more like a DK weight than worsted Color selection is nice. I may consider using it again for other projects I don’t mind acrylic for.

CO 23 (JMCO) with pink and worked one row. Wove end in through purl bumps and snipped yarn (didn’t have to bother too much with weaving ends, as the tail will end up on the inside, between the outside and the lining.

CO 27 (JMCO) with navy and worked two rows. Same treatment of ends as above.

Placed needles with pink stockinette side up on top of needles with navy, stockinette side down.

With size 4 tips and a long cable, worked both colors and placed on needles. Working from these needles using magic loop from here on out. There are two plain knit navy stitches on both ends of both sides -- this is so the lining is smaller than the outer and stays inside. If I do this treatment again, I’d probably add 1-2 dk stitches with both colors between the plain knit stitches. Not at all necessary, but the lining would probably look neater.

Made a couple cords using this method I found on YouTube -- way faster than making i-Cord and it looks really nice with two colors.

I used yos to make eyelet holes a couple stitches in from either end on both sides, two rows from the top. (worked eyelet row, plain row, then worked purls on lining only for one row before using kitchener to bind off.)

Found some matching pony beads for the ends of the cords, so they won’t disappear inside the bag.

I’m really loving how this came out, although there are a few things I’d change slightly. I’m proud of myself for figuring out how to do a double knit pouch. I think I may make another using a chart I design.

As for the Love Bytes chart, I didn’t end up using the whole chart (or it would have been too long at the gauge I was knitting at) but I absolutely love it. I’m not likely to make mittens, but I fell in love with the chart and knew I’d want to use it for some purpose.

(I’m not going to rate the pattern or difficulty since I used only the chart and my own pattern.)
