Making a checkerboard for the grandkids…double-knit, in purple and pink! Underestimated my gauge, and so ripped and restarted. Doing this on the fly, so more ripping before I’m done with the first set of squares. Linking any references I used so that I may reference them again, if necessary!

Details:
Cast on for a total of 10 stitches x 8 squares + 2 stitches each side for selvage, a total of 84 stitches on each side, which means casting on 84 purple stitches alternately with 84 pink stitches. Every row is thus 168 stitches, and the resulting squares are approx. 3x3”…to fit the checkers! Here’s what I did at the row ends.

I started by knitting 2 rows plain, then moved onto the squares, which will end up 10 sts X 15 rows. It’s not difficult, but the figuring by knitting (rather than doing a gauge swatch…egad!) is taking more time than I would have liked. Live and learn? Probably not.

BUT, I am well on my way, with the first row of squares finished on day 2!
