Ok, my second go at this pattern…this time in the right weight yarn (a pair of socks, with a blown-out heel that I did not care to darn, contributed the yarn), and with the correct needle size. The first pair looks too big.

Same mods, as noted below:
This is right glove. Reverse thumb & fingers for left glove.
Cast on 40, twisted German, join to work in the round.
2x2 rib for 30 rows.
Switch to stockinette stitch, Inc 2 on first round.

Knit 4 rows before starting thumb gusset.
Inc for thumb on rows 5, 8, 11, 14.
Slip 9+2 thumb sts to holder on row 16.
Cast on 3 sts, and continue in st st until round 33 is finished.

On rnd 34 - knit to pinky, place non-pinky sts on holder. Work pinky finger over 10+2sts, for 18 rnds. Dec and bind off for top of finger.

Work 2 more rnds over remaining stitches.

Ring finger is 4sts from each holder, 3 from pinky, 2 in gap (total of 13sts). Work 23 rnds, dec & bo.

Middle fnger is 5sts from each holder, 3 from ring finger, 2 in gap (15 total). Work 28 rnds, dec & bo.

Index finger is remaining 7+7+2 in the gap. Work 24 rnds, dec & bo.

Thumb - 11+5, knit for 20 rnds, dec & bo.
