First side of this is Mary’s snowdrop pattern. Then I totally veered and did my own thing. My sister wants some knitted kitchen items to give to her attendants when she gets married this summer. Like a potholder or 2 and a couple dishcloths each for 3 people!
CO size 4’s. Switch to 5’s at colorwork start. Switch to 6’s about 3/4 through colorwork. Switched back to 5’s on the solid white row on the 2nd side. Not sure when I’ll go back to 4’s.
The braid thing is interesting! Quite a pita, personally, but I like the effect. Based on directions in Latvian Mittens by Lizbeth Upitis - page 23-25. Then did the picot round and eventually the hem round. Then the little people (RJ especially) thought I ought to do something else on the other side. I was originally going to do the same thing in the reverse color scheme, then decided to just design something using a blank chart. I didn’t want someone to think it was double knitting! But that might be very cool to try in the round… hmmm. We’ll see how this goes first! I have completed 3 rounds of the second side design so far.
I sprayed the thing with a little water and set a hot tea kettle on it to try to tame it down a little for photos. Hopefully it will look a little better once it’s finished and can soak a while. We will see.
Sugar and cream cotton worsted yarn.
2/12 And it’s done! Not sure yet if I like the snowflake side or not. I could have done better. :) But it’s okay.
