I’m flying through this project, or at least I think so. I’ve completed 2 out of the 3 “sections” and I’ve joined the third color. When I introduced the second color (the blue) I began to add the YO modification that I’ve been reading about from others. Basically all you do is add a YO between the first and second stitch on each row and then dropping the YO at the end of the row (the one that was at the beginning of the row below what you’re working…). With any luck I can get this finished before the end of the week.

I cast on the first of two Color Affections that I want to knit last night. I chose to do the fingering weight version first since I already have a lace weight shawl on the needles and I needed a change of pace. My first impression is that this is going to be a fast knit, but I think it would go fast if I had pick a different yarn. I went with Knit Picks Palette so that I could have a wider verity of colors to chose from, but the twist of the two plies is pretty loose so it lends to spitting. Normally I wouldn’t mind a splitty yarn, but because of the way the increases are written it slows me down because I have to make sure I’m not splitting the plies.
I usually don’t use the M1L or M1R increases mostly because I can never remember how to pick up the ladders between the stitches… I also sometimes can’t tell where the ladder is, so I usually use the KFB for increases. I am sticking with the pattern as written, so I’m having to slow down each time I have an increase so that I can read how the increases are done. On the abbreviation page she has written out how to do the two increases.
