Test knitting pattern

after swatching I decided to knit with size 5mm needles rather than 4mm

08/03/2012 - finished bottom ribbing, about to start cable pattern

11/03/2012 - About two repeats of the cable pattern done / almost halfway of body done. Going well so far although I remember now what I found annoying about cardigans… all that purling!

25/03/2012
Finished the body today - finally! It took longer than I thought, mainly due to visits from home and gorgeous weather outside, in other words not much time sitting inside… Finished cable at row 6 (1st Round)

27/03/2012
Ack - ripped up the arm I started - I find it very fidgety working the cable pattern and using dpn’s and I havent quite mastered the art of magic loop yet! Am on the hunt for circular sock needles size 5mm…

15/04/2012
New needles finally arrived - much easier to work with, but when I was about to start cable pattern I noticed I had cast on the wrong number of stitches! 45 instead of 54! aaargh! rip rip rip really pissed off I took a break from it again. Ready to start again tonight - 3rd time lucky fingers crossed! Am eager to finish this as I’ve spent much more time on it than I should have!

3rd time lucky on the arm - first arm finished tonight (finished cable at row 10 (1st round) and hope to finish the second asap.

slowly but surely it’s getting there, and I keep wondering why I am taking so long with this. Apart from the obvious answers of it being too hot to work on this whilst in Marrakech (I tried but 38 degrees C and warm cardigans being knitted up isnt really a good combination)

I have started the decreases on the front now though and with each round there are fewer stitches! yay! (just a whole bunch of loose threads but I am ignoring that for the time being)

20/05/2012

Finally finished! I’m really annoyed with myself for letting me take this long, the pattern was very straightforward I thought and the cabling was easy enough once you got used to them.

I think the trickiest part of this project is getting decent pictures! getting a picture that shows of the jacket, cables, AND the colour is near enough impossible. I might have to try again when it’s not so sunny outside!
