ASOIAF #4
Yarn:
Drops loves me and I love it :) The colour is just gorgeous! The high meterage makes it very lightweight and since it is hand-dyed the variegation is perfect for stockinette. Unfortunately it is a limited edition :(
Pattern:
Easy and simple. The sizing seems to be on the larger side, except for the sleeves. I made a few alterations, especially the mitered corners came out great and in my opinion look a bit more polished.

Casting on today :)
I’ll go with the M (38.5 inches) size, which should give me one inch of postive ease
17.06.
Divided sleeves and body.
Decided to cast on 21 instead of 31 stitches to avoid a frumpy look
19.06.
Started waist shaping on row 17
20.06.
Second dec row according to pattern on row 29
third dec row on row 41
21.06.
First waist inc row on row 51
Second waist inc row on row 63
22.06.
Third waist inc row on row 75
Knitted for 91 body rounds (72 -m- 92 -m- 72 = 236)
Body took almost 4 skeins
started picking up stitches
23.06.
Decided to do mitered corners and knit the whole bottom, band and collar ribbing in one go.
Thank God for knit pro cable connectors :)
Left and right band: 68 stitches each
Collar: 172 stitches
4 corner stitches
236 body stitches
548 st. in total
Increasing at the corners every other round:
round 1: k
round 2: inc at corners
25.06.
14 rounds (5cm) in the ribbing, still about 7 to go
The corners seem to come out fine, but they are rather rounded then pointed
27.06.
After 20 rounds of ribbing I started binding off
using this method.
The whole ribbing took about 1.7 balls of yarn
Ok the previously mentioned bind off did not work out, it was too loose and looked messy. So I had to swallow the bitter pill and ripped back 600+ (and 3 hours of work) bound off stitches. Tomorrow I’ll try to simply bind off in pattern.
28.06.
Binding off number 2. I hope this time it will work out fine.
All stitches bound off, WIP-shots done, so let’s head on to the sleeves :)
Sleeves:
Cast on 11 stitches instead of 8 (64 stitches)
Decreased 2 stitches on first round (62 stitches)
then followed size S instructions for sleeves (dec ervery 9th round 7 times (48 stitches))
30.06.
110 rounds on the sleeve
k4 k2tog (40 stitches)
2x2 ribbing for 20 rounds
JSSBO
First sleeve done, it took roughly 45g of yarn
02.07.
Still working on the second sleeve, currently I’m 90 rounds, seems like I’m on the home stretch :)
03.07.
Yeah, it done :D
It just needs to be washed and lightly blocked.
The cardigan took about 7.32 balls of yarn, including a 14g gauge swatch
