Blogged about it here

While knitting this I enjoyed the first seasons of Supernatural - thus the project title :)

It’s done! Shrinking Levenwick in the dryer worked like a charm :D The fabric is the tiniest bit felted now and very dense, but the fit is almost perfect. After all I didn’t attach the pocket because it looked rather unflattering.

This project is a big disappointment :( After washing and the lightest blocking (collar and buttonhole band) it grew huge. Especially the raglan line is way to big and bulges in a funny way.
Since I don’t want to frog it I’ll try to put it in the dryer and shrink it.It will have to wait until my holidays since I don’t own a dryer.

Mods:

  • My gauge is way off for this project, but 4,5mm needles are the smallest needles with which I like the fabric in Drops Nepal. So after some math I decided to knit the smallest size and hope to get something around M (37”).
  • No waist shaping
  • Lengthend the body by 2cm
  • For the left font band I did 7 rows instead of 3 to prevent flipping and add more of a “real” button band
  • Long sleeves
  • Garter stitch border on the pocket

Diary:

17.07.
Casting on today :)

18.07.
Collar is done, heading on to the yoke.
I decided to do the purl increases like this.

19.07.
Set a lifeline at the second set of increases at row 27.

20.07.
Omitted the waist shaping

21.07.
Body is done (84 rounds), it took about 7 balls of yarn (without left, right and bottom band).
Picked up 116 stitches for the right front band (roughly 3 stitches out of 4 rows)

22.07.
Finished and attached the right front band using this method for the buttonholes

23.07.
Bound off the left front with the standard method using a 6mm needle

24.07.
Sleeves:
I do them inside out.
Picked up 10 stitches instead of 8 an decreased 2 in the first round.
Knitted for 15 plain rounds.
Dec round (round 16, 48 stitches)
knit for 101 rounds
on round 102 dec (46 stitches)
k 4 rounds
round 107 dec (44 st.)
k 2 rounds
round 110 dec (42 st.)
k 1 round (111)
dec round (40 st.)
start garter band (4 rows)
i-cord bind off

27.07.
All done, it’s soaking right now!
After blocking I just have to sew on the pocket and the buttons.
The jacket took 615g of yarn, including a 22g gauge swatch
