Beautiful, well written, timeless pattern.
Played around with the cables a bit, just for the fun of it.
Because gauge was off, added a couple of rope twists to center cable to gain length.
Edit: Should have lengthened even more…
Finished left front shoulder with 3stitch i-cord bind-off - it is both more stable and looks neater, also includes two buttonholes. Left back shoulder ribbing attached only after arm and neck ribbing - looks neater imho.
Found the perfect buttons in Grandmother’s button box.
Springy merino yarn is perfect for the cables. Love the classical “cricket sweater” look achieved by adding a light blue 1 row contrast stripe at the ribbings.
