DISCLAIMER:
If you tend to read charts over written instruction then I HIGHLY recommend immediately going to the lace chart pattern and highlighting row 19. This will be the first row that you knit on the size 6 needles, and you will be switching to your MC on this row. I was too involved in my knitting to look back at the written instructions and ended up frogging about eight rows.

Started this in the evening and didn’t bother to pay close enough attention to the fact that the ‘smallest’ size needles were size 3, not size 4. I got all the way to the color change before figuring out that little mistake. Back to stitch one. :)

This pattern is flying by. VERY easy to read Kelly’s instructions, and I’ve always been a fan of shawls that are separated in triangles. I love the webbing look it gives, plus when you add in the color stripes it adds a cool angular look to the piece.
MY THOUGHTS ON THE CC STRIPES:
I think the stripes give the pieces a really nice defined look… I’m not sure how I feel about the two MC stitches between each set up stripes. Because you don’t have your yarn follow you along you end up skipping the two stitches two rows at a time. It makes the look a little uneven. I suspect that this will block out though. If that’s the case then Kelly you’re a frakin’ genius. :)

I love love love the sparkle throughout the Timberline Ice yarn. I thought initially it would be too much, but it just makes the whole piece look like something out of a fantasy book. I have to be a hundred percent honest though - the Black Butte is still 100% my favorite. You can’t go wrong with this yarn.
The lace pattern is incredibly simple and absolutely stunning. It’s fairly easy to catch if you miss a YO.
REMEBER: With the lace chart ALWAYS check the WS chart… a lot of those YOs need to be knitted on the WS, not purled. I’ve caught myself on more than one occasion just going into auto mode.

I had to frog 8 rows because I’m a huge dork and didn’t pay attention to the written instructions. Change my needles and color on the 19th row? Who needs to do that? Please please please read my disclaimer at the top if you are a chart reader such as myself. It could save you a ton of time.

Hazzah! It’s complete. MUCH smaller looking than I anticipated… but I’ve yet to block it, and we all know that things end up MUCH larger than we initially imagined.
All in all this is a fantastic quick pattern. Well written and thought out. I love that Kelly adds ruffle and flow to her pieces by changing needle sizes in place of adding stitches.. it keeps things looking symmetrical and even and leaves out those awkward looking M1 stitches you see 20 times in one row. :)
If you haven’t ever experienced yarn by Alexandra’s Crafts then you are denying yourself something truly spectacular. The colors are always vibrant and intoxicating to look at - both in skein and knitted form. And the yarn quality is 100 percent up there. It’s always an absolute joy to make something beautiful with her fiber and yarn.
