Notes

First time making something 2-at-a-time. So definitely using magic loop, as usual. Also my first mittens.

Had to use Liat’s video tutorial on YouTube to figure out how to cast on for 2 at a time.

Cast on: Used the twisted German cast on.

YARN: it was great to finally use natural fibres again. This particular yarn was nice to work with and ideally suited for mittens. Even though the ball had two knots in it, at least they were able to be spit-spliced so that doesn’t stop me from buying it again. After washing, it definitely softened up. I’ll buy this yarn again.

PATTERN: the video is very helpful and for an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter the pattern works well. The pattern could have been a bit more clear in certain areas but I figured it out.

Will make these again.

  • something that I’ve never done before and it’s working very well is making these 2-at-a-time mittens from one ball: pulling the yarn from the centre and from the outside.
  • I like that the tension is the same on both doing them this way and there’s no chance of one being smaller/larger or having a difference in tension.

All finished. The top and bottom photos (FO) are not the true colour because both those photos were taken at night in artificial light. The other photos are a much truer version of the lovely blue colour.
