My first attempt at lace stitch. Will keep you posted.

Now that I’ve abandoned the magic loop (at least for this project) I’m well on my way and am finding the pattern very easy. I love how the lace is turning out.

Okay, I finished and I absolutely LOVE it. I really like the yarn but what I love most is the lovely lace pattern and so does everyone else who has seen it while I worked on it.

I’m going to make more of these and the others will be gifts. One change I will do for the ones I made as gifts is to go with the suggested needle size of 7 rather than the 10. Also, I would knit it a bit longer plus do a real stretchy bind off and cast on.

Note for making more in future. As time has passed I’ve decided that rather than the stockinette beginning and end, a simple rib would look much better with this lace especially since only one end curls.

After blocking, it really looks lovely (top photo).

Thanks to each person who has so kindly offered me help and direction with this dilemma (see below in brackets). I appreciate all the great advice regarding the magic loop and DPNs. You’ve got me on the right track!

(I’ve frogged this 3 times, needing to start all over. I’ve watched 3 different videos twice each time to learn the magic loop. I can’t get the join nice enough -- looks all separated and amateurish, so after spending so many hours on just starting over and over again, I’m going to try and figure out how to knit this without it being in the round.)
