Notes

Love this pattern. It just gives such a wonderful texture to hats. I have made several according to the pattern and really like the vintage look but then thought it would be great as a “baby bird hat” for my baby niece. I added earflaps and curly/springy“ side strings then chose simple buttons for eyes and crocheted a “beak” then sewed them on.

“curly/springy” side strings by crocheting a (number) of chains (I think i crocheted 40) turn 3sc blo in 2nd ch from hook and in each stitch until desired length of the “curly/springy” portion is reached then slst the remaining chs to the end. Join to side earflap. You can also join yarn to earflap first and follow pattern your preference.

Hi

Thanks for looking at the Baby Bird Hat, Alli from Allicrafts
did a great job of working up this very texture-y, vintage-y looking hat pattern and I had fun turning it into a baby bird, a snowman, a fox and a couple more animals. For the earflaps, I just kind of winged it, just using the same kind of feel as the hat pattern and went with it. I actually ask for advise from ravelry user’s at first but in the end just played around with it until I thought it looked good. I have two versions I use I will post on the pattern page. I’m sorry in advance if it isn’t to the letter, I have a bad habit of just doing it and not writing it down thinking “yeah no problem, I’ll remember what I did”…. not so much, so I ended up reverse engineering what I did and writing it up that way. I have gained sooo much respect for pattern writers! If you do have any questions
Please Feel Free To Message Me I will try my best to help!
