Notes

This gown is for a stillbirth (26 weeks). This fit a 14” 2 lb baby. The long sleeves were fine, but a word of warning - it was difficult for the nurses to pull her tiny, underdeveloped arms through the sleeves. The nurses suggest making wider sleeves for ease of dressing. They did a wonderful job, though. I will talk to the nurses and see what they would prefer. The idea was to keep the body as covered as possible, but dressing her had to be done very carefully.

Gown is 7” from bottom hem to the ribbon waist.

The hat did not work. Pulling it down over the head can be difficult because of the condition of the little one. A hat is very useful and adds a lot to the “babyness” of it all, but I suggest a very stretchy hat that you can stretch out so that you can gently place it around the baby’s head with little contact until it can be placed where it needs to go.

Please please please e-mail me with any questions you may have. It’s a horrible, painful event for anyone to go through but you’re not alone!!!!!!

The yarn was donated by the newly ‘retired’ owner of Coldwater Collaborative. Thanks Carri - it has meant a lot to my family.
