Need to swatch for st st gauge and for the Nennir gauge.

St st 28 sts/4” and 18.5 sts/2”. Calling it good.

Basic Stockinette Stitch Pattern

CO 23 sts.
Over 38 rows, inc to 70 sts.

CO 42 sts and join in the round.
Work for 7” more, dec by 9 sts (1 st each inch?).
Mark steeks for leg holes (each 1”/ 7 sts, 5”/35 sts apart): From the middle of the back, 5” down To the first steek, and then 5” To the next.

K to steek marker, put 7 sts on scrap yarn. CO 7 sts for steek bridge across it. Repeat.

Work in the round until steeks are 3 1/4” deep. BO steek bridges next round, casting on 7 sts over steeks next round. Continue till back measurement is 16”, decreasing the front by 5 3/4” = 40 sts. Last 2”, k1p1 rib.

I’ll do the outside 4 sts in garter st to prevent rolling. So the first 4 rows will be garter, too.

And the middle 6.4” wide (sts) by 7.6” long (rows) will be the Nennir chart. Since the row count is slightly tighter in the chart, I should do a short row at the beginning, the middle, and the end to account for it.

May 8, 2020

CO 22 sts. Inc to 70 sts (48 sts added) over the next 38 rows. First 4 rows will be in garter stitch. The rest will be 4 garter stitches on each edge and st st inside. The first 4 will have increases every row (8 sts added), and the rest will only have increases every RS row. The last row adds the remaining increases.

Rows 1-4 (garter st with increases): K1, kfb, K to last 2 sts, kfb, k1. (8 sts increased; 30 sts)
Rows 5-35, odd (RS): K4, kfb, k to last 5 sts, kfb, k4. (2 sts increased)
Rows 6 and 8: K4; p to last 5 sts; kFB, k4.
Rows 10-36, even (WS): K4, p to last 4 sts, K4.
Row 37 (RS): K4, kfb, k10, kfb, k to last 14 sts, kfb, k4.
(48 sts increased; 70 sts)

Almost at the end of the cable chart. Started the leg-hole steeks.

May 18, 2020

Leg-hole steeks done. 13 1/3” done. So I have 2.667” over which to decrease 40 sts. Or 27, as it is about 12” wide & need to decrease to 9” = 3” or 27 sts. I need to start ribbing at 14” so maybe I’ll decrease 9 sts every 3rd row and then rib. That gives me 43 sts which won’t work for ribbing, so let’s do 44, leaving off a dec last dec row. Need to decrease on front so 9 sts between leg holes = 19 sts + 7 for each leg hole = 33 sts. Every 4 sts plus one @ beg & end.

I’m up to the neck! Still need to cut steeks and pick up the leg holes.

I also want to sc around the edges to give them stiffness, to make them lie flat.

April 26, 2023

Finished 1 leg. Wove in its end & the neck’s.
