Notes

This is part of the challenge of the Garden of Unearthly Delight Cal of the ifff group at Ravelry. In week 7 we were asked to take the Venus fly trap as our inspiration. I found this object at the second hand shop and thought it would be perfect to make my fly-trap…

But this project wanted to be something more than just a fly-trap. To me it became a symbol of what happens when someone is bullied. When you are bullied you feel threatened and it can be if you are trapped…. Once you are in the fly-trap it is not easily to come out…. You need help. And when you succeed in coming out of the fly-trap often you will discover that your wings are damaged or broken… My wings were certainly broken when I was bullied….
As you can see at the photos, at the inside there is a beautiful flower. This is something we must never forget… children who are bullying are often also in need of help. Inside they can be quite different than what they show at the outside!!!

Most of this is crochet. The fairy I crocheted with very thin yarn. I also used a little embroidery.
I decided to leave part of the wire just as it was. This symbolizes the ones who do not actively bully, but they are afraid to be the next victim, so they do not stand up for the one who is bullied. They still want to belong to the group…
