For the fairytale of the frightened little bird and the dragon I need a peacock. So I started making one, starting with the feathers.

Already 84 feathers are included. But I still need more feathers. The feathers are made with needle-tatting and Margaretenspitze (More about Margaretenspitze here and here).

I knitted the head of the peacock and stitched the body with fabric. The body will be covered with scrumbles, made with buttonhole stitch and knitted buttonhole stitch over a netting fabric. For the head I also use a covering - a bit different. To make these scrumbles I use a special wooden tool to make buttonhole rings.

For the wings I have used picot knitting.

June 20: All 120 feathers are completed. Almost there now….

June 21: Finished!!!! So glad with this fairytale peacock!
