Project info

Notes

This is made according to the instructions given at the international freeform forum - ifff “Garden of unearthly delights”.

Making a bird-flower or flower-bird and using the limpet stitch was one of the instructions. It was really fun to make this, just starting with a wing (without even knowing that it would be a wing). I started with just a testing of the limpet stitch. But then I saw that this could become the wing of a bird or a leaf of a flower. So I manipulated the crochet and placed the limpet stitches just where I wanted them to be. Really love this stitch with a great texture. I have added another fancy yarn to make more limpet stitches and add more texture.
I have put the flower-bird at one of the 100 nests I have made for my art project about bullying.

Wandering in a rock garden….Using single crochet over a cord foundation was another one of the instructions.
I used a Lucet to make the cords. I used different colors for the cords and the crocheting - both are visible.

The Eup is a very strange creature which carries his own ecosystem.. It has wood and metal in it and it has 4 very long legs. The technique is the slip stitch.
For this creature I used metal clips from cans and I crocheted around them. I also used wooden and wood-looking buttons. I used fruit nets to crochet with and again did slip stitches all over it. The legs I made from metal thread with yarn wrapped around it.

Using the crocodile stitch and creating a fantasy critter…. I used crocodile stitch for almost everything of this reptilian creature…. I used it in the round for the body and I used 2 rows of crocodile stitch for the head. I manipulated this into the head. With an eye and a tongue he was completed. He fits at a finger - the head can be moved this way.

Making a flower with more than 1 center and using the spike stitch…. I planned to make a complete 3-dimensional flower, but started 2-dimensional, a bit towards 3-dimensional… I manipulated this, pulling part of it through the holes, and made a 3D flower out of it, adding more crochet, including spike stitches. For the leaves I used again a cord made with the Lucet. This time with a fruit net inside it.

Getting inspired by a fungus called Clathrus ruber and using Bruges Lace as a stitch.

A part of this CKAL I have listed as different projects, because they are meant for my big art project about bullying. You can find them under the names chameleon,
chameleon 2, broken wing and another flird. At these project pages you can find more information about them.
