Notes

These paisleys and spirals are made according the instructions of het ifff-group summer CKAL 2013.

But I changed them sometimes a little… want them to be feathers for my Alchemy bird for my art project about bullying.

So in the first week I added a quill to the spiral and I changed the form of some of the paisleys, to have some variation. The patterns from the 1st week are from Loren (Twisted1) and Melba (Melbav).

In the second week a very nice shell spiral pattern was offered to us by Donna (Donkyl06) I changed it a little and added some embroidery…

In week 3 again a lovely paisley pattern (I see a bird in it). This is the one made from the linked pattern Pretty Picot Paisley.
I also made an improvised one of this pattern, a bit smaller and more or less a mirror image of the first one.

Instructions for making the other paisleys can be found at the page Sensational Spirals and Pretty Paisleys, from the international freeform forum - ifff group

In week 4 I made the cat-spiral from Akua Lezli Hope.
I have made a seperate project page for this.

Week 5: A question mark paisley…. Nice pattern from Ane-Marie (Mamita) …. so there is a paisley and a spiral in one….

Week 6: A knitted paisley design by Melba. I added the crocheted outside.
And also a nice crochet design by Melba! I like the feathery look of this one. I tried to do surface crochet at it, as suggested, but I liked it better without it, because it disturbed a bit the feathery look. The second one I started with a different number of stitches and I improvised this one.

I started another knitted paisley, but was not enough concentrated to follow the instructions. When finished I noticed that the top part was at the wrong side… But then my husband saw a duck in it…. So I decided to add a beak! I have made more ducks - they are at the project page Proud striking duck.

From the instructions of week 7 I started with the bonus.
It is a nice filler pattern offered to us by Maria (mbcrochet)
I also used part of the paisley pattern of this week to make a paisley with just one yarn. It is meant to be a feather and I have to make more of them, mixing them with the sprang feathers with woven feather cords. I skipped the last 2 rows from this pattern. And I folded the tail in the length and slipstitched it together.
After making some of those feathers I tried to make a bird out of the same design. For making the bird I only changed the last row, adding a beak and a tail. I also added a wing and an eye.

At July 23 Loren (Twisted1) posted a bonus pattern from a Royal Paisley.
At first I thought to use this as a feather, and because of that I made the tail at the other side of the paisley, as I didnot want to have the heart upside down. But then I saw this could become a Royal Bird!! So I did not connect the top of the tail to the paisley. I added an eye and a tail (using the crocheted garland of my own design of week 8) and my Royal Bird was born.

The designs of week 8 are from me and I have made separate project pages for them. But there was also a nice bonus design of Loriart. I changed it a bit. I used eyelash yarn for the middle part of the upper ones. I changed the tails, because I wanted thinner tails for my feathers. With the other 3 paisleys I added a backing and machine-embroidery.

In week 9 Hyke (DeLeewit) offered us a nice Russian Paisley Motif. I also made some smaller ones, omitting the last rows.

The design of week 10 is a knitted paisley from Pati (justripit). I made it smaller, starting with only 12 stitches. I used the long and crossed stitch from my own design for the first and last row and for one row in the middle of part 1.

Bonus pattern of week 10 from Loren. I only changed it a tiny bit… the blue feathers are pinned to the neck of the bird.

In the last week of this CKAL Prudence Mapstone has given us very nice instructions to play with…. With much freedom to make an own interpretation. I have made a heart-feather with this instructions.
And another one… and a third one….
Photos: newest photos first - so week 1 is under.

Finally I also made the leaves of week 9 from Hyke’s design (DeLeewit). I will use these leaves together with some flowers for decorating a clown’s outfit for my husband.

And made more of the knitted paisleys of Justripit.

Thought I had done all - then remembered a nice paisley of Melba with the crochet drop stitch and decided that I had to try this too….. So one more paisley with the drop stitch.

I have used a lot of these paisleys for my big Alchemy Bird.
