I used small pieces of the crocheted paisley-garland for a tail of the bird.

To make the tail of the bird you can use small pieces of the Paisley garland.

Crocheted and knitted spiral forms
You can crochet or knit a spiral to go with the paisley-bird, if you like. Just have a look at the project page for the crocheted curling forms, the knitted curling forms, or design your own variation. You can also use the filler design of Mbcrochet from the Sensational spirals and Pretty Paisleys CKAL from the ifff-group, week 7, at Ravelry, to let your bird sit on. I made 3 of them, starting with a chain of 35, 45 and 55 stitches.
