For the last clues, I decided to do another tulip pattern and then another windmill pattern as follows:

7/28/15:
Practice Block 1 done with Bernat Handicrafter cotton on size 8 needles; came out to 10” x 10” (but I did the edges wrong; will re-do the correct way on smaller needles because this one came out crappy).

Practice Block 2 done on size 6 needles; came out to 9” x 9”. I still don’t like the way it looks, but I think that’s just because it’s cotton yarn, not a nice soft acrylic. You can’t see any of the texture of the Waffle Stitch Border, which is really pretty.
