My first woven scarf.

I used the Yarn Nerd for the warp. Once I realized I wasn’t going to have enought of that one skein to use it for the weft, I introduced the other 3 yarns in random stripe patterns.

I warped using the direct warping method found in the Ashford Youtube videos, except I didn’t use the string to secure the warp to the front as shown at the end of the video. Instead, I secured them using a surgeon’s knot as taught in the Rigid Heddle class on Craftsy. I will probably use the string next time as it seems way easier and should have less waste.

I planned out the scarf using the worksheets from the Craftsy class. It estimated 234 yards needed for the warp. I wanted a 70” long scarf and ended up with only 60”! BOO!

I was beating too hard at first and hid all the warp yarn. I stopped. A week later I continued and this time went for a more even and balanced weave and didn’t beat as hard. I like the balanced weave results better.
