Notes

This is the second time I have knit this wonderful pattern and I am sure won’t be the last!

This time I added the twist, making the wrap a mobius strip.

Using the Shetland wool my gauge was quite different from that suggested in the pattern. I therefore adapted it to give me the dimensions quoted in the 2011 Autumn Toast catalogue.

I used double pointed needles because my 60cm circular needle was too long for the new width.

New Figures

I cast on 108 stitches and knit 6 repeats of the 18 stitch chart per row.

I knit 11 repeats lengthwise until my piece measured 61cm (approximately) and 18cm in width (naturally doubled). These final dimensions were based on my gauge of 5.5cm across x 5cm long = 18 stitches x 18 rows.

For the twist I blocked the wrap flat first. Then I lined up the wrap so that the two halves swapped sides. I then grafted the tube in the round as per the pattern.

Kitchener Stitch Mantra

Front needle, thread tapestry needle through as if to knit, let the stitch some off
Front needle, thread tapestry needle through as if to purl, let the stitch stay
Back needle, thread tapestry needle through as if to purl, let the stitch some off
Back needle, thread tapestry needle through as if to knit, let the stitch stay

Here is the video I used for the provisional cast-on

Thank you again to Madeline Bourque for my new favourite pattern!
