Notes

A friend asked me to make this as a baby gift to their babysitter. It looks like a fun pattern. She is reimbursing me for the yarn. I picked out colors that are very close to the example picture.

The tentacles are very fun to make, which is good because repeating anything 15 times can otherwise be a slog.

Finished all the individual pieces and am starting to put them together. I ran into a little problem putting the tentacle tops and bottoms together. If I crochet into every stitch, they don’t curl and instead stick out like spikes. I flipped the bottom piece so the long sides of each tentacle are together to solve the problem. Additionally the pattern photo looks like they are single crocheted together on both sides instead of whip stitched along the short edge. I am crocheting the pieces together. Once I get 4-5 tentacles assembled, I will add the eyes and stuff the head.

I used a little Vanna’s Choice and Red Heart for the white/black eyeballs. After putting the tentacles together, I wasn’t happy that they weren’t as curly as the pattern photo. I think it happens because my starting chain was too loose. To fix it, I did a row of sc 1, sc2tog over the cream stitches to tighten that side.
