Notes

I finished this ages ago but didn’t have good photos until today.
The yarn, a more affordable version of Rowan Denim cotton, was stashed years ago and is now discontinued. I chose to knit it at a tight gauge, which really makes the cables pop, but next time I’ll use #5 needles since the hot-water wash and machine dry do a good job of tightening the knitted fabric anyway.

Usually a big fan of Kim Hargreaves, I had an issue with the pattern instructions, namely, that the complicated, wide cable, itself made of 1/1 ribbed stitches, is not charted. The instructions for the row where the cabling occurs are not written clearly, so I ended up coming up with my own method.

On the other hand the generous collar is very well written and ingeniously designed.

Note: since the background is in reverse stockinette, in order to make the seaming easier I kept all selvage stitches in stockinette.

The pattern calls for loops and a knitted belt, but I omitted them as I didn’t want to mark the waist on this rather bulky, heavy cardigan. I wear it open instead.
