Other than the pattern suggests, I used the same yarn for the brim and the rest of the hat. I just used a 5.0 mm needle for the brim to get it a little tighter (it’s still a bit loose, though) and then switched to a 7.0 mm needle.

At first the hat in all turned out tighter than I had expected, but after blocking (on an inflated balloon) it has just this little amount of slouchiness that I wanted.
