I made these two pairs of socks as christmas gifts for two friends of mine. I think they look like colourful worms, hence the project name ;)
They are really easy to make! You knit 2x2 ribbing and shift the pattern one stitch to the left or right after every fourth round. So, for example if you started with k2 p2 befor you start the fifth round by p1 k2 p1. This creates the spiral pattern around the tube. When the tube is long enough (about 40cm here) you just have to add a regular sock toe. They work without a heel because the spiral pattern stretches around the foot perfectly.
