Old ball of yarn I think I was given a decade ago. super bulky so I am improvising this hat based on this pattern.

so far I have cast on and knitted a row…

Gonna try to build the pattern as I go.

Cast on 51, knit in the round being careful not to twist.
(I placed markers every 17 stitches.I am using 2 cabled needles because I couldn’t magic loop 1)

Knit every row until you have a tube XX.XX tall.(Still knitting)
