The Loopy Ewe in Fort Collins, Colorado

I LOVE this pattern! So easy and so pretty. Matches my turquoise Namaste bag perfectly!

I cast on 66 sts for this because I’m using fingering weight rather than the suggested DK yarn and because I am constantly afraid I won’t cast on enough sts or will knit my socks at too tight a gauge. Worked well with this yarn.

My mods (in bold):

CO 66 sts using 3mm needles. (22 sts on each needle.)

Begin knitting cuff with 2.75mm needles (for 8 rounds).

Begin river pattern on ndl 1 and add 2 knit sts to either side when reading chart (to compensate for extra CO sts).

Move 11 sts from ndl 2 to ndl 3 (= 33sts, for heel flap).

Heel flap -
Row 1: sl 1, p32
Row 2: sl 1, (k1, sl1) to end (with last st of row knitted)
Rep for total of 28 rows.

Heel turn -
Row 1: sl1, p18, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 2: sl1, k7, ssk, k1, turn
Row 3: sl1, p8, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 4: sl1, k9, ssk, k1, turn
Row 5: sl1, p10, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 6: sl1, k11, ssk, k1, turn
Row 7: sl1, p12, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 8: sl1, k13, ssk, k1, turn
Row 9: sl1, p14, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 10: sl1, k15, ssk, k1, turn
and so on until 21 sts rem.

Pick up 16 sts on each side of heel flap.

Gusset - dec until 32 sts rem for sole.

Begin toe decs after completing Row 30 of river pattern. Kitchener when 13 sts (26 total) rem.
