Found a fabulous pattern for an enjoyable, beautiful shawl.

This shawl was a mindless knit until the Sunday Lace. I found it to be a little confusing (having lace patterns on both sides), but once I got the hang of it, it went quicker.

I loved the way the shawl blocked out and it fits wonderfully around the shoulders, without falling off. Very light and comfortable.

NOTE:

I cast on the number of stitches for the small in fingering weight (using the smaller needle size compared to the US 9 called for) and followed the pattern until I used up all of the red yarn. The shawl was around 13.5” at that point. I changed to the brown yarn and started the lace pattern, adjusting the stitch number so that I could use a correct multiple of the Saturday lace pattern.

This made the shawl less “holey” and more substantial, without taking away from the lightness and drape. I knit very loosely, though, so if you try this, use a US 6 instead of a 5. I continued with the Saturday lace for 12 repeats and then started the Sunday lace.

When the Sunday lace had 3 full repeats, I bound off using the p2tog, slip the stitch back to the left needle and p2tog…repeat method. Worked very well and was very stretchy.
