As I am not using a super bulky/ super chunky yarn I need to modify slightly. I have cast on (not provisionally) 139 stitches to allow me to add 2 more pattern repeats.

After having had an inexplicable nightmare with my yarn overs (unequal sizes for some reason), I seem to have finally corrected the problem on about the 15th try by double wrapping the yarn before a purl stitch. Have now successfully completed the first section of pattern and really like the way it is developing - it’s a gorgeous design. I’m aiming to do an additional 6 repeats if I have sufficient yarn.

Final update…

Finished!!!! Ended up doing 8 full repeats of the pattern and still had one skein of yarn left over. I don’t usually work with acrylic yarns, but needed an affordable, machine-washable option. The yarn is soft, warm and fits the bill. Really like the way this turned out - hopefully my sister will too.
