Notes

I’m not the hugest fan of these. The look really nice at first glance, but the slipped stitch palm means there’s a 3:4 row ratio palm:back of the hand, and that makes it curve. The mitten also isn’t really long enough. I’m going to block them pretty fiercely and see if I can’t remedy this, but I doubt that I’ll get more than a few millimeters.

The project itself is fun--the pattern is intellectually stimulating if you like charts (which I do), and it’s a nice combination of textured stitches. The cuff is a little silly when compared to the rest, but not distractingly so.

The only way I can think of to lengthen these would be to ditch the bottom cuff altogether, rib for a bit, and start the body pattern early (starting the thumb gusset “later” in the body pattern, but earlier in the mitten as a whole.)

Also, this yarn does not play nice. The reason these took 3 years to finish is not for lack of effort--it’s because the yarn tied itself into the worst knot I’ve ever seen involving multiple layers of my yarn cake. I’ve purchased this yarn twice. I won’t do it again. It’s too slick to stay wound but not slick enough to avoid knotting and felting to itself.
