5-11-14 - These are so flippin cute! There are a lot of little fiddly bits that need to be done but the juice was worth the squeeze! I wish I would have chosen a different color for the hoop because it blends a lot with the flowers. But the hoop was pink and I thought it would go best. I’m very pleased with the end result but I’m glad they’re done cause they are adorable! They actually sit on the hoop okay by themselves without much maneuvering. The flowers were a bit of a pain and I’m not really crazy about the way they curl. The leaves curl too, but I was running out of time. Overall I’m very satisfied with the way it came out.
5-7-14 - So far, so good. I’m making these in the round, because it just seems much easier. I’m also not making the tail separate. Why? I just kept knitting from the body decreases on down. Not sure I’ll put the pipe cleaner in the tail, not sure it needs it. So I have both bird bodies done, and 2 wings done. I still need the hoop, and to make the flowers.
5-5-14 - I fell in love with these birds the moment I saw them!! I half-heartedly started this early last week. Its not that I’m not excited about it, but life is just in the way. These will be for mom, who is a lifelong bird lover. We always had parakeets when I was young, and I may even make a pair for my cube at work!
I made good progress this past weekend. The green bird is almost done, his face is on except for the eyes, and he’s stuffed so far. Just a few more rows for the tail. The blue bird is knitted to the start of the tail, but I realized I needed to stuff him (duh), so I stopped but haven’t picked him back up yet. I may have to frog a few rows back to be able to stuff him, and he needs a face. I figure the flowers should be quick, and I still need a hoop.
