Following the news this past week has been both scary and sad, so I decided to knit a Love and Hope hat.

Quick knit.

Yarn held double.

Will post diagrams later.

Cast on 99 stitches. Place marker.
Ribbing p1 k2. 12 rows of ribbing.
Change to main color of hat.
On first row after color change - m1 to get 100 stitches.
Both patterns 10 stitches.

Knit three rows.
Knit heart chart - ten times.

Knit three rows in main color. Move marker five stitches, so the middle of the anchor is right above the stitch in-between the hearts.

Knit anchor chart - ten times.

Knit three rows in main color.

Decreases - knit 9, k2tog. Knit one row. Knit 8, k2tog and so on. When 10 stitches remain - take the yarn and pull through. Weave in ends.

Pompom - make it as big as you like. I took 2 strands of the main color and one of each of the others.
