Notes

LOTS of pictures!

  • Worked 6 pattern repeats as specified in pattern.

  • Blocked to 15 inches wide and 13 inches tall

  • Attached the handles with a size J crochet hook and some single crochet. Much neater and quicker than whip stitching.

  • Used french seams to keep the lining from fraying. It is much more sturdy, as well.

  • Lining is rectangular with little pleats along the top to fit the curve of the bag. This allows the bag to expand when filled (more three dimensional). See bottom photo for a work-in-progress shot of the pleats.

I was lucky and the purse handles and snaps were on sale. You really only need 1/2 yard, but I always buy extra. =) For the yarn and fabric, I used two 40% off coupons. Here’s what it might cost to make a bag without the sales and coupons (when purchased at Joann’s):

  • 1 skein Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick -$6.49
  • Pair of wooden purse handles- $6.99
  • Mini magnet snaps (set of 3)- $1.99
  • 1 yd. of fabric (I used quilter’s flannel)- $7.99
  • 2 yd. ribbon (7/8”)- $2.58

TOTAL (before taxes): $26.04 (I spent $18)
