Notes

This is a real TARDIS because it is 8 hours in the past… it’s actually travelled to San Francisco from the UK, but still…

Cast on
Even though I used DK instead of worsted, and smaller needles, the pattern was still too big for this model. As suggested by other Ravelers with newer models, I frogged it and cast on 48 stitches instead of 60 using Judy’s Magic cast on.

Door panels
K3, P8, K2, P8, K3
I did P1,K6,P1 instead of P8 for one of the top panels and was going to embroider it to look like the police box notice… but life is too short.

Windows
K3, K2 white, K1, K2 white, K1, K2 white, K2, K2 white, K1, K2 white, K1, K2 white, K3

Lettering
Wanted to intarsia the words Police Box instead of embroidering them (like LostSurprise) and also do a fold-over top (like knit1purl2mommy), but I’m not sure how reducing the number of stitches will affect me being able to do this.

Found that the word ‘Police’ from the TARDIS socks pattern fitted well over my 48 stitches (I reduced the ‘L’ by one stitch) and so knitted that in.

Didn’t do the fold over top in the end, just added a button loop and a blue glass button to look like the light on top of the TARDIS and am quite pleased with how it all looks.
