I am making this extra loose, longer and with long sleeves. I just want something light to slip on to take a bit of chill off.
CO 54 sts, but then did 30 repeats and increased 2 sts on the edge of left front and right front (39/114/39).
When I divided sleeves from body I did a provisional CO under the arms.
Waist shaping I noticed some knitters added a waist shaping and decided to do a k2tbl, p2 ribbing over a third of the back stitches for about 2inches.
Pockets I added two small pockets; big enough for a key, small change or a tissue.
Length 14” from underarm, finished with a p7,(k5,p5)k5,p7 ribbing.
Sleeves Knitting up both sleeves at the time on two circular needles. First decrease at 2 1/2 “ from underarm, then continue with decreases every 1 1/4 “ until 40 sts are left. Finish long sleeve in k4, p4 ribbing and a stretchy sewn bind off.
8.19. I finished everything except the collar which will be a easy to do on my next road trip.
8.26. Collar I brought this out of hibernation as we decided against a road trip this Fall (we need a new oil tank instead). Cast on along the edge making sure to have an equal amount of stitches on both the left and the right front.
First row: ptbl all stitches. Then repeat st st for five rows, reversed st st for three rows until I reached the desired length (I want the garment to overlap in the front). i knitted up a total of 4 st st and 3 rev st st sections.
BlockingThe cardigan came out just the way I envisioned it. Just blocking it now :) I was quite shocked to see how much of the color bled and am a wee bit worried to see it dry and appraise if the rich teal color has washed out too much or not. Had I known the yarn bleeds this much I would have added a little vinegar to the wool wash.
March 2021 Update: I made the pockets bigger. Picked up 6 sts on either side of the pockets plus the sts of the pocket and knit in stst for 25 rows, then 3 rows in reverse stst, then 5 rows in stst and I-cord bind off in reverse stst. Now I can actually fit my hands in the pockets.
If I did it again I would pick up for the bigger pockets right above the ribbing , covering the smaller previous pockets inside.
