The way the yarn is sold set up as twin cakes in a plastic container with the two ends fed through two holes, I thought that’s how I would be able to knit up my identical socks, but the yarn ends which came from the center of the balls, were stuck. As much as I pulled, I could not get more than about 7”. So, I had to take the balls out and started knitting from the outside of the balls which is fine, but just a little disappointing.
After finishing the toes, I felt less drawn to the colors and feel of the yarn. I decided to do the toes and heels only in the yarn by Done Roving and the rest in a more neutral color, because the recipient prefers neutral colors,

As for sizing, as the recipient lives thousands of miles away, I am going by her shoe size.
EU 39-40 equals US 8 1/2- 10 which is 9.78-10.08“ foot length. Turning the heel approximately 2“ before.
Then I worked with this useful chart to determine the sock length and figure out when to turn the heel. This won’t be as accurate as the cardboard foot I usually make from a tracing of the foot and then use for my FLK heel, but it will have to do in this case.
It’s coming along really nicely, but for future reference if I ever do this pattern again I will start and finish with a Purl stitch across the foot to have it more centered. But it looks great as it is.
2.9.: Finished with a pivot bind off. Had to try them on myself. They feel great and are hopefully just that extra amount bigger to fit her feet.
